Your Dalí Museum and Girona from Barcelona Day Trip gets an early start; you'll meet your local guide and group of no more than 14 other travelers. You'll board a private, air-conditioned minibus with your guide and a dedicated driver for the one hour 40 minute ride to Figueres, the birthplace of Salvador Dalí. We'll stop at our favorite cafe before entering the museum so you can grab a quick bite to eat, use the restroom, and prepare yourself for the experience of a lifetime in the one-of-a kind Salvador Dalí Theatre and Museum.

We'll be first through the doors in the morning, so we can head straight to the most popular parts of the museum before they fill up with visitors. You'll start in the most famous room; a small space lined with red velvet, which features paintings, including an intimate series featuring Dalí's wife.

It only gets more bizarre and wonderful from here. Dalí himself repurposed this building from an old cinema, and as you explore its cavernous expanses you'll find all manner of curiosities: Dalí's version of the Sistine Chapel, a room that coalesces into a portrait of Mae West when viewed from afar, all sorts of models and strange inventions, and a portrait of Abraham Lincoln that can only be appreciated when seen through a camera lens.

It's all just as strange as it sounds and needs to be seen to be believed. Luckily, you'll be experiencing it all with an expert guide who will help you decode, interpret, and occasionally guess the point of it all, if there's a point at all. They'll also tell you the story of the artist's tortured life and explain how much of it was channeled into his art.

After all that organized lunacy, the next stop on your Barcelona Day Trip is the idyllic town of Besalú, just a short drive into the hills from Figueres. Known for its beautiful Romanesque bridge, this tiny Medieval village was a key player in the unification of Catalonia. Today, it's a lot more quiet, but just as beautiful. You'll sit down for an all-inclusive lunch at a sweet local restaurant, including fresh, local ingredients, and a complimentary glass of wine.

Once you've recharged, you'll hop back in the minibus and head to Girona; an ancient metropolis packed with history, culture, and the filming locations from some of your favorite TV shows. Your guide will give you a full tour of the old city, including a walk along the city walls and a stop at the Cathedral to take in the lovely medieval architecture. You'll also visit the Jewish Quarter, one of the best preserved and most historically-important in the world, and learn about the dark years of the Spanish Inquisition.

And don't forget those filming locations - Girona is featured in large sections of HBO's Game of Thrones along with so many other TV shows and movies, so we'll be sure to see the spots where some of the series' most iconic scenes were shot.

To finish up your Barcelona Day Trip, you'll enjoy a little bit of free time to grab a snack or do some quick souvenir shopping before heading back to the city. It's not that far from Girona to Barcelona, so traffic permitting, you'll be back in the city in just over an hour.

Thank you Miquel for such an amazing tour. Miquel was so knowledgeable and informative and we could have never appreciated everything as much without his knowledge. We really enjoyed Miquel as a guide. He was very attentive to all of us on the tour and had a energetic personality that made the tour a lot of fun. The only thing I would ask of this tour is some more free time in Besalu to do some shopping at the many shops.

Our guide Laura was engaging and absolutely wonderful. Her knowledge and passion really made this tour lovely from start to finish.
