With its iconic balloons and gorgeous floats from all over the country, it\u2019s a must-see if you\u2019re visiting the city during the end of November. Here\u2019s the important information you need to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Where:<\/strong> the<strong> Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade has 2.5 miles of public viewing space<\/strong>. The route starts at Central Park West and W. 77th Street, and goes down to Central Park South, and cuts over to 5th Avenue, where the parade will continue until it reaches Macy\u2019s flagship store on W. 34th Street.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>When:<\/strong> <strong>The parade starts at 9 a.m., but get there at least an hour early<\/strong>. With so many people flocking to the event, it\u2019s not uncommon for spectators to stake out their spots at sunrise. Unless you are a die-hard parade fan, being there at cock-crow probably isn\u2019t necessary but you\u2019ll definitely want to give yourself a little time to find the right spot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What to wear:<\/strong> Dress in layers, and be sure to bring a <strong>warm coat, hat, scarf, and gloves<\/strong>. The hard part about dressing for this time of the year is that the weather is unpredictable, but it\u2019s better to prepare for cold weather. Unless you\u2019re a serious shopper waking up at sunrise to catch the deals on Black Friday (we recommend hitting the big department stores if you are \u2013 think Macy\u2019s, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, etc.), <strong>we recommend heading over to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takewalks.com\/blog\/bryant-park-ny\">Bryant Park<\/a> to check out the small merchant shops at the Bryant Park Winter Village.<\/strong><br><br>Although it only runs seasonally it\u2019s one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takewalks.com\/blog\/the-best-markets-in-nyc\">best markets in NYC<\/a> and features stalls, with ornaments, handmade jewelry, soaps and lotions, and even some chocolate treats to buy for everyone on your list.
