The museum has a focus on Spanish artists, but it also boasts works by an international cadre of famous artists as well. And if you do, you\u2019ll be rewarded with lesser-known but stunning pieces of art, artists who don\u2019t get the attention they deserve, and relatively untrammeled swaths of the museum. This is a <strong>more classic-looking painting,<\/strong> not the LSD trip on canvas\u2014melting clocks and deformed sentient beings\u2014that we usually associate with Dal\u00ec. Photo credit: Terry Ballard<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the <strong>most stunning is \u201cPienture (Escargot, Femme, Fleur, \u00c9toile)\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cPainting: Snail, Woman, Flower, Star\u201d), painted in 1934.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The painting is <strong>part of a set<\/strong> of works he did called \u201cwild paintings,\u201d which were inspired by the <strong>fear of the possibility that fascism<\/strong> was going to overtake Europe, in general, and Spain, in particular.
