You'll meet your driver in central Venice and board your air-conditioned vehicle for the one-hour drive to Verona. Once there, you'll be joined by a local guide; an authentic Veronese, passionate about sharing their city. Your drop-off point is at the city's most stunning overlook, where you'll get a feel for a place that doesn't just have UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Descend the hill, cross the river and pass through the city walls into the historic center. With your local guide, you'll first go to the enormous Verona Cathedral, an architectural marvel with incredible historic roots. Then it's on to atmospheric Piazza delle Erbe, surrounded with incredible medieval buildings and, believe it or not, a whale rib.

A highlight of the day is Verona's amphitheater - a massive structure comparable only to the Colosseum, but visited much less. Your guide will bring you inside to see it in all its glory, giving you time to scale its height for wonderful views over the city. Another great vantage point on your tour (there are so many), comes when you walk the city walls.

Lunch is not included in the cost of the tour because Verona boasts an incredible food scene and we want you to be able to try the places that interest you or get a recommendation from your guide, who is always happy to point you in the direction of local favorites.

Of course, you'll also get the real story behind Verona's two most famous lovers - Romeo and Juliet. As you see their houses from the outside, you'll learn to separate fact from fiction and why Shakespeare set his immortal love story in this particular city.

Verona is the perfect size for a day trip from Venice. In just one day you'll cover the best of it. You'll see all the highlights, enjoy its most beautiful piazzas, enter its most beautiful buildings and even walk most of its important streets. After your tour, your guide will give you tickets for the high speed train back to Venice and walk you to the platform.

For something a little different from your Venice vacation, take a day to explore one of Italy's most romantic and underappreciated wonders.

So, I have nothing but good things to say about our walk in Verona. There was a lot to see; our guide, Marina, was very knowledgeable and showed us though the wonderful city. Very happy!

I so enjoyed my tour of Verona with Luca as our guide. I got to see the sights of Verona I would not have gotten to see in a day trip doing it on my own. I hope one day I will get to return to Italy when I do I will definitely want to do a tour of other areas with “Walks of Italy”. Thank you.
