About Me

Q. What inspired you to become a guide?

Lockdown! The streets of central London were empty over lockdown, and I spent a lot of time just walking. It sparked my curiosity about the history of the area and inspired me to train as a guide.

Q. What do you love most about London?

London is such an amazing mix of ancient and modern. I love the way you'll find remnants of the old Roman wall right next to a brand-new skyscraper.

Q. What's your favorite story to tell on tour?

My favourite stories are all about bringing characters to life. There are so many stories about Winston Churchill, but I particularly love talking about his influence on fashion…

Fun Facts

  • I used to be a fashion journalist. Thinking about what people were wearing at the time really brings history alive for me.

  • I consider myself a Londoner, even though I grew up in Scotland and lived in the US a few years. I'm always surprised by my Scottish accent.

  • London is full of amazing bars and restaurants, but I'm always happiest with a cup of tea and some toast and peanut butter.

My Insider Tips for London

Q: Best time of year to enjoy London?

Christmas lights, cosy pubs… December in London is truly magical.

Q: What do you tell your visiting friends to see in London?

If it's your first time in London, I'd recommend guided tours of some of the big, iconic sights such as the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and St Paul's. It's also a great city to discover on foot, so make sure to give yourself time to wander down old alleyways, discover hidden gardens and just enjoy the view. The view from the River Thames – whether you're walking along the river or crossing one of the bridges – is always beautiful.

Q: What about the culture in London should people not miss?

You shouldn't miss the pub culture here, even if you don't drink alcohol. From quiz nights to live music, comedy and gastropubs, there's something for everyone.

Q: What are some unmissable foods and drinks?

London is such a buzzy city that there's always a hot new restaurant, or something new to try. Borough Market is a real foodie destination, and a great place to start. But you can't beat the classics – fish and chips, and a pint in a historic pub.
