Excellent
This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Stephan, was exceptional. His love for the Met could be felt in each exhibit we passed. He answered questions with confidence, dates and comparisons to peers or periods. Whatever the question merited. The Met is huge. It was awesome to see if with someone who loved it and also could help open me up to its treasures.

This museum is incredible and there are so much to see. And only two hours time, our guide took us through the most desirable areas to view and gave us interesting details in each room. It was very fast paced, so if you wanted to see something in greater detail, youre gonna have to go back on your own. However, it is a great overview of the museum. Plus our guide, Stephan, was so knowledgeable and made it a very enjoyable experience. We highly recommend.

The three-hour tour with Katie was amazing! Time flew by and we got to see many famous works of art, as well as hear fascinating stories from Katie. Everyone should take this tour, which not only includes seeing beautiful art, but also inspires you to reflect deeply. Thank you!

Excellent
Highly recommend a tour for this massive museum. You could spend days wandering the halls aimlessly, or get the history of the museum (and much more) and see the highlights of each department from a knowledgeable and passionate tour guide. We were traveling with our two kids (8&10) and the guide was engaging for them too.

Our experience was 5/5 stars. Charlie was a fantastic guide throughout our experience. He was very informative and explained everything extremely well. Lots of knowledge, wisdom and humour along the whole 3 hour period.

FAQs

Can I take photos in the Metropolitan Museum of Art?
Non-flash photography is allowed. However, flash photography and video cameras cannot be used inside the Museum. Selfie sticks are also prohibited.
Is the rooftop garden visitable all year?
Unfortunately not. The rooftop garden is only open from May through October, weather permitting. On other months your Met tour will include extra artworks instead, spending more time inside the Museum.
I use a wheelchair; can I take this tour?
Yes! The Met is fully wheelchair accessible. However, if you cannot climb the stairs of the central entrance to reach the meeting point, there is a ground level entrance one block south, near the intersection of 81st street and 5th avenue. Tell the desk you need to use the elevator to meet a group in the main lobby (at pharaoh statue), which will then secure your entrance ticket. They will provide you with a temporary pass and help direct you upstairs.
Am I guaranteed to see all of the rooms and artworks listed?
All of the pieces listed in the tour description are viewable the vast majority of the time. However, the Met, like nearly all great museums, occasionally allows certain works to travel in temporary exhibitions or be lent to other institutions. The Met also allows private parties to book out certain rooms for events (most commonly the Temple of Dendur), rendering them inaccessible for the duration of the event. If one of the listed pieces is unable to be viewed, the guide, at their discretion, will substitute another piece of important value.
