Excellent
We took the three hour walking tour of the MET. This was our first time going there so decided a guided tour would be best. Our guide Katie was great and really knew her stuff. The tour group was small about eight people which worked out perfect. The three hours flew by as Katie kept us engaged with all her knowledge of the art and the museum. It was all that we were hoping to get out of this tour.

Excellent
Quite possibly the best museum tour I have experienced. Our guide, Kathy, was extremely knowledgeable and also funny! Her obvious passion for her job and the artwork we viewed shone through in her presentation. Just as an example, following the conclusion of our 2.5 hour tour, she stayed to spend time in an area of the museum that she felt she was not proficient in. I unreservedly recommend her tour.

Excellent
We had a wonderful tour of The Met with Katie as our guide. She showed us many items that we would not have seen, and she had fascinating stories for each piece. We would highly recommend this tour! One of the highlights of our trip to NYC!

Great
Having been on a variety of guided tours, the great ones share the most important thing … a great guide. This tour checked all the boxes, with a great venue, great art collection, and most important … Katie … a great guide … friendly, interesting and personable from start to finish.

Great
I would just like to take a second to point out how wonderful my tour guide Katie was at walking us through The Met. She was funny and informative and kept the whole crowd entertained on our 3 hour tour. Would definitely recommend going on a walking tour. You get so much more out of the experience than if you go through it on your own!

FAQs

Can I take photos in the Metropolitan Museum of Art?
Non-flash photography is allowed. However, flash photography and video cameras cannot be used inside the Museum. Selfie sticks are also prohibited.
Is the rooftop garden visitable all year?
Unfortunately not. The rooftop garden is only open from May through October, weather permitting. On other months your Met tour will include extra artworks instead, spending more time inside the Museum.
I use a wheelchair; can I take this tour?
Yes! The Met is fully wheelchair accessible. However, if you cannot climb the stairs of the central entrance to reach the meeting point, there is a ground level entrance one block south, near the intersection of 81st street and 5th avenue. Tell the desk you need to use the elevator to meet a group in the main lobby (at pharaoh statue), which will then secure your entrance ticket. They will provide you with a temporary pass and help direct you upstairs.
Am I guaranteed to see all of the rooms and artworks listed?
All of the pieces listed in the tour description are viewable the vast majority of the time. However, the Met, like nearly all great museums, occasionally allows certain works to travel in temporary exhibitions or be lent to other institutions. The Met also allows private parties to book out certain rooms for events (most commonly the Temple of Dendur), rendering them inaccessible for the duration of the event. If one of the listed pieces is unable to be viewed, the guide, at their discretion, will substitute another piece of important value.
