Your tour begins at Porta Nuova, where you’ll first meet your guide and get your bearings. Following the footsteps of the Norman Kings, you’ll make your way to the impressive Palermo Cathedral, built in 1184 by the Normans on a former Byzantine basilica and further developed over the centuries that followed. Inside, should you choose to visit, you’ll find the crypt of former archbishop of Palermo Walter Ophamil and the famous "treasure of the cathedral”, composed of sacred vestments and other precious objects from the 15th through 18th centuries.

Making your way to the breathtaking Cassaro Alto you’ll get further insights into the life of the Normans who ruled the city, before arriving at the Piazza della Vittoria (Victory Square), where you’ll take in the beautifully manicured gardens and study the ancient mosaics in the ruins of a Roman villa.

At the striking, red-domed San Giovanni degli Eremiti you’ll study the mix of Arab-Norman architecture, while at the Royal Palace (Palazzo dei Normanni) - the political and cultural center of the Norman kingdom in Palermo - you’ll have the opportunity to head inside to explore its 9th century origins.
