I had the privilege of visiting the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel with the Keys Master tour. I must say it exceeded all my expectations: it was an UNFORGETTABLE experience.<br />The silence of the museums, the darkness of the galleries, the opening of the doors—being alone and the first to enter places filled with history, art, and beauty—is something that is very hard to describe.<br />The lights being switched on, the echo of our footsteps—we were only about a dozen people—the guide’s voice breaking the almost mystical silence of these places and the magic of the Sistine Chapel without any crowds are unique and lasting sensations that are worth far more than the price paid.<br />To anyone who manages to book this extraordinary visit, I highly recommend not missing the opportunity. If you love art, you will not regret it, and you will end up recommending it to everyone you know—just as I am doing now.

Absolutely amazing experience with the entire place to our small 20pax tour group. We were able to take our time and explore leisurely; our tour guide Francesco was fantastic and informative. Being able to have the tour guide point out things in the Sistine Chapel for 30mins was a huge plus. The entire place was pure silence as we walked through the halls - invaluable experience! Just be sure to adamantly look for the tour coordinator at the meetup point (they didn’t stand out much or hold up the sign very high). The coordinator was tired and would’ve skipped 12pax if our tour guide didn’t notice some people to the side of the area.

This was an excellent tour and our guide Claudia was superb. We'd booked because our trip to Rome was a last-minute one and the Vatican was otherwise sold out and so although we worried about how expensive it was, the money was absolutely worth it.
Claudia proved her worth right from the outset by dealing with two issues firmly and efficiently and then proceeded to engage the whole group really effectively. Everybody on the tour was an adult aside from my 9-year old niece and so Claudia immediately made her feel special by inviting her to lead the group. This ensured that my niece was captivated for the entire duration and everything Claudia told us was interesting and engaging.

HIGHLY recommend the early access Vatican, Sistine Chapel tour. By 11 AM, the lines wrapped around the buildings, but we entered with no waiting. Our guide, Rosana, kept a great pace, and we were even able to access a private passageway from the Sistine Chapel!

I am in a wheelchair/have a mobility impairment. Can I take this tour?
The Vatican Museums are equipped with elevators for wheelchair access, but they are not located on the group tour route. If you have a mobility impairment and/or use a wheelchair please contact our customer service department at [email protected] and we will be happy to work out a suitable alternative.
I've heard the Vatican has a strict dress code. What should I wear?
It does, but it isn't anything too formal. The big rule is to make sure your shoulders and knees are covered - that applies to both men and women. Also remember that shorts of any length are not allowed at all in St. Peter's Basilica so if you are visiting both the Vatican Musuems and the Basilica, wear trousers or a long skirt. Occasionally visitors get away with wearing a bit less but it’s best not to risk it. Hats are also not allowed.

I heard there are renovations happening in the Sistine Chapel in 2026. Is my tour affected?
Between January 12 and March 31, 2026, the Vatican Museums will carry out a dedicated preservation project focused on Michelangelo’s "Last Judgment" in the Sistine Chapel. To allow specialists to work safely and thoroughly, the entire wall featuring the fresco will be covered by scaffolding throughout the intervention. The Sistine Chapel will remain open to visitors, though this specific artwork will be temporarily out of view during the restoration period. We appreciate your patience and understanding as essential conservation work is performed on this remarkable masterpiece.

Why can't I take photos inside the Sistine Chapel?
When the chapel was restored in 1990 the biggest donors to the project (donating a whopping $4.2 million) were a Japanese television network. In return, they received exclusive rights to photograph and film inside and quickly banned any professional photographers from taking pictures. Although they didn't mind if tourists took photos, the Vatican guards decided to enforce the rule on everyone because it was impractical to differentiate between a normal visitor and who was a professional photographer. The Japanese network's exclusive contract has expired now but the rule persists. If you try to take any images in the Chapel Vatican, security is authorized to make you delete them.
Can I check my bag in at the Vatican?
Unfortunatley the Vatican cloakroom is closed after-hours - and this tour takes place after closing time. You may bring a small bag or backpack, but any large bags or objects will not be allowed.
