Had the most amazing after hours tour of The Doges Palace and St Marks Basilica with the guide Alessandro who was very knowledgeable and passionate. We learnt so much and it was amazing to see everything without the crowds. It was so easy book, a straight forward process and a great evening overall. Would definitely book again
This tour, the Doge’s Palace and Basilica After Hours, is a wonderful way to gain a snapshot of knowledge about the government and how it operated before Napoleon and during his dominance of Venice. We walked the same halls of the prisoners that were also housed in the same Palace walls. We proceeded to the Basilica, after a short break, that was only open to private tours, ours being the After Hours tour. The mosaics were spectacular. Our docet, Romy, was the perfect guide with an incredible knowledge of the history and art present in the Palace and the Basilica. I highly recommend this tour and wear comfortable shoes. There are many steps to climb in the Palace.
Romy was an encyclopedia of knowledge when it came to the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basilica down to the tiny tiles and Venetian History. The tour was entertaining, informative and well paced! We had a great time! We even had a 30min break in between the Palace and the Basilica. Highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in these two iconic places in Venice as well as crossing the Bridge of Sighs (like a doomed prisoner! ?) ??
The Exclusive Along in St. Mark's & Doge's Palace Tour was amazing. It was so nice to see these two great buildings without all the other peoples and tour groups. Watching the lights come on in the St. Mark's Basilica was such a beautiful thing, and not having hundreds of people squished in next to us was amazing. I have already recommended this tour to others, and will continue to do so.
Moses was terrific and knowledgeable and great to listen to! He had great info on all the art and history connected to the palace and basilica. He was also considerate of a member who was in a wheelchair, though we wonder if there is a way to make sure that folks can be accommodated. (At times it seemed dependent on whether one of the guards could take them via elevator.) The Walks team was super-professional, on hand at the start testing headphone devices and instantly replacing a defective one, and the guide carried extras just in case. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to anyone!
This tour meets underneath the Portico, just outside the entrance of the Correr Museum in Piazza San Marco, 30124. The Correr Museum is directly opposite the entrance of St. Mark's Basilica.
Please meet 15 minutes prior to the tour start time.
