Visit Michelangelo’s David before the crowds show up; enjoy exclusive access to the famed Duomo of Florence's terraces and climb that incomparable dome all without waiting in line.

At your morning meeting point, greet your local expert guide and an intimate group of 15 people (or fewer) outside the Accademia Galleria. Before the daytime crowds arrive, marvel at Michelangelo’s statue of David as well as his unfinished sculptures known as "Slaves" granting you incredible insight into the mind of this Master artist.

After your visit to the Accademia explore the streets of Florence. Your walking tour takes you to Piazza della Signoria, arguably the most famous piazza in the Florentine city where an open-air art gallery and other city highlights abound. As you walk your guide will relay stories that bring the past to life.

Next, it’s onto Piazza del Duomo where a pause at the Baptistery will display a set of bronze cast doors by Lorenzo Ghiberti, coined the "Gates of Paradise" by Michelangelo. With a full introduction to the surrounding features, your time will be not only be filled with awe but also inspire both adults and children alike. Looming overhead, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the red-capped duomo brought to life by Filippo Brunelleschi and celebrated in every iconic shot of Florence, awaits your arrival.

Step onto the cathedral's terraces with special entrance, and then conclude your time with a climb to the top of the duomo (optional) where again, special skip-the-(long)-line gains you access to the top of the world, ahem, Florence. It is here the incredible views over the Italian city seal your growing assumptions about how this city has long inspired the great artists of Italy.

FAQ

Is this tour wheelchair accessible?
No. Unfortunately, due to site restrictions we cannot accommodate wheelchairs on this tour. If you use a wheelchair and book this tour by accident, we are happy to offer you credit for a future tour that is wheelchair accessible anywhere in the world, or a full refund.
Do I need to bring my ID with me on this tour?
Yes! This is especially important if you have purchased a student ticket because the museums will check when we arrive.
Does the Florence Duomo have a dress code?
Yes. The Florence Duomo is a holy place and as such, you are expected to wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees when you enter.
Does the Florence Duomo ever close unexpectedly?
The Cathedral of Florence occasionally closes for special celebrations/festivities, including Easter ceremonies. If this occurs during your visit, we will run an alternative itinerary that includes an explanation of the Cathedral from the outside and extra highlights of the city center. We are unable to provide refunds or discounts if the Cathedral closes unexpectedly.
Can I bring my bag into Florence Duomo?
Larger backpacks are not allowed inside Florence Duomo. Please make sure to only bring small handbags on this tour.
What if the weather is bad (rain, snow, hail, etc.) on the day of my tour?
Our tours run rain or shine so please dress for the elements. We also ask you to please remember hats and sunscreen if you are taking this tour in the summer as it might be very hot.
Does the Duomo Museum ever close unexpectedly?
The Duomo Museum closes the first Tuesday of each month. On these occasions we will include a visit of the Underground section of the Cathedral instead (Santa Reparata). We will hand you a ticket which is valid for 48 hours so you can visit the Museum on your own the following day.
Is the Dome Climb accessible to people with limited mobility?
There are 463 steps to the top of the Florence Duomo and no elevator. Also, the staircase and is narrow and, in the summer, pretty hot. We don't recommend it for the elderly, people with limitations on their mobility, or anyone with claustrophobia.
