Next, you’ll hop on a historic streetcar, zipping down St. Charles Ave and into the famous Garden District, filled with some of the grandest pre-Civil-War mansions in America. Your guide will lead you on a full Garden District tour which includes the atmospheric gravestones and mausoleums of Lafayette Cemetery No. 1. The highlight is a full tour inside the opulent Elms Mansion, including a glass of lemonade under the largest magnolia tree in the South.

Note: We do not visit the Elms Mansion on weekends and occasional weekdays when it is closed due to unforeseen circumstances. If we are unable to enter the mansion on your visit, we'll take you instead, to the Columns Hotel, another of the city's great Italianate mansions built in the 1880s.

After lunch (which is included) at our favorite restaurant for Creole cuisine, you’ll reconvene on Bourbon Street for a French Quarter tour. Your guide will take you to its most notable streets and landmarks in order to immerse you in the story of French, Spanish, and African people coming together to form the Creole culture that has made the city famous. You’ll also step into a working gas lamp factory to see the way these iconic symbols of New Orleans are still being made.

Your New Orleans walking tour continues in Jackson Square where you’ll see landmark buildings like the St. Louis Cathedral and the Cabildo (where the Louisiana Purchase was signed) then step inside the Presbytere building for a guided tour of the museum, including exhibits on Mardi Gras and Hurricane Katrina.

It wouldn’t be a New Orleans Day Tour without a ghost or two, so we’re also taking you inside one of the city’s most haunted buildings. You’ll learn its creepy story and step inside the infamous seance room, which is where ghosts have most often been seen. We haven’t had one show up on a tour yet, but we still get goosebumps every time.

After a quick trip to the French Market to learn about the culinary influences that have made this city one of the foodie capitals of America, your New Orleans tour finishes on a high note at the world-famous Cafe du Monde. Here, your guide will treat you to a complimentary beignet. Then you’ll head down to the waterfront to watch the riverboats pass by.
