Ryan was a great guide! Hit all the highlights, pointed out what to do after the tour. He customized some of the tour based on peoples experiences in the group. For example, one he found out my daughter was a musician he took a 10 step detour to show her the oldest surviving piano in the world. I highly recommend. Eat lunch there and do additional time on your own if needed.

Charlie was a fantastic tour guide for the express Met tour. The quick pace was perfect for seeing the highlights without feeling rushed, and Charlies enthusiasm made the experience engaging throughout. I had several favorite moments: the Egyptian exhibit was captivating, and the Alexander Hamilton Branch Bank of the United States façade was stunning - Charlie really brought the history to life. The breakdown of Degass ballet painting was particularly insightful and gave me a whole new appreciation for the piece. Charlies knowledge and passion for the art made this express tour well worth it. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience the Mets treasures efficiently!

FAQs

Can I take photos in the Metropolitan Museum of Art?
Non-flash photography is allowed. However, flash photography and video cameras cannot be used inside the Museum. Selfie sticks are also prohibited.
Is the rooftop garden visitable all year?
Unfortunately not. The rooftop garden is only open from May through October, weather permitting. On other months your Met tour will include extra artworks instead, spending more time inside the Museum.
I use a wheelchair; can I take this tour?
Yes! The Met is fully wheelchair accessible. However, if you cannot climb the stairs of the central entrance to reach the meeting point, there is a ground level entrance one block south, near the intersection of 81st street and 5th avenue. Tell the desk you need to use the elevator to meet a group in the main lobby (at pharaoh statue), which will then secure your entrance ticket. They will provide you with a temporary pass and help direct you upstairs.
Am I guaranteed to see all of the rooms and artworks listed?
All of the pieces listed in the tour description are viewable the vast majority of the time. However, the Met, like nearly all great museums, occasionally allows certain works to travel in temporary exhibitions or be lent to other institutions. The Met also allows private parties to book out certain rooms for events (most commonly the Temple of Dendur), rendering them inaccessible for the duration of the event. If one of the listed pieces is unable to be viewed, the guide, at their discretion, will substitute another piece of important value.
