One of the better Walks tours on this trip. Our guide was mature, smart, and spoke good English. She was easy to understand and could answer questions with ease. Unfortunately this was not the case on all our Walks tours on this trip. Overall quality of English was an issue on several in both Italy and France. But this tour was excellent. Our guide, Lorenz (may be misspelling) was excellent. And of course the Louvre is such a magnificent facility and collection. Together with the Orsay, these were among the highlights of our trip. Would definitely recommend this tour and this guide. She was great!

Our guide Wei led us seamlessly through the crowds at the Louvre. He led us to major works and to areas which we did not know existed. His explanations and descriptions were very interesting. We highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I loved this tour. It was only a group of four, so we didn’t need headsets or flags. It felt very personal and our guide Emmanuel was amazing. He had his scripted points, but we had enriching conversation throughout, particularly because we brought us through areas with fewer people where we were able to talk about what we were seeing (although the main “highlights” were of course busy). We truly ‘skipped the line’ by going in a side entrance with no line at all and were able to see some interesting works of art that we would have never found. The length was perfect. Highly recommend this tour!

What an amazing tour with Violette at the Louvre! She was knowledgeable and entertaining, as well as thoughtful to some in our group who needed extra assistance. If we had known about her at the beginning of our trip we would have signed up for more of her tours!!

Meeting Point

Meet your guide at the statue next to the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in front of the Louvre Museum. When facing the Arc, meet at the winged statue on the left. (Important: Be careful to not confuse the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel with the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile up the Champs Elysées Avenue.)

Due to an ongoing renovation of the Arc du Carrousel, the meeting point may be a bit crowded. Your Walks coordinator will be waiting for you with a sign.

Please meet 15 minutes prior to the tour start time.

Do I need to bring an ID with me on this tour?
Yes! Please ensure that all members of your party, including children, have a valid ID on them on the day of the visit.
What can I bring inside the Louvre Museums?
Please note that the Louvre will not allow large items inside the museum, so you should bring only a small daypack or handbag. More specifically, only bags smaller than 21.5 in x 13.5 in x 7.5 in (55 cm x 35 cm x 20) cm are permitted. Suitcases and large bags must be left outside. Closed, clear bottles of water are allowed inside the Louvre however food is forbidden inside the site. Please be advised that the use of selfie sticks and flash photography is not allowed inside the Louvre. Additional security checks may cause longer waits at unavoidable security lines at times.
Does the itinerary of your Louvre tours ever change?
The Louvre is constantly changing its collection by taking some pieces off of display and putting other on. In general, the works visited on this tour are among the most famous in the musuem so they are rarely not on display, however, they (very occasionally) go on loan to other museums, are taken down for restoration, or the galleries they are in are closed. If this happens, your guide will take you to see other works.
I use a wheelchair: Can I take this tour?
Unfortunately, this tour route is not fully wheelchair accessible so wheelchair users cannot join our group tour. Please contact customer service at inf[email protected] to enquire about wheelchair-friendly tours.
Why is it so hard to see the Mona Lisa without a lot of people?
The Mona Lisa is arguably the most famous painting in the world due to a variety of factors that include its painter, Leonardo da Vinci, the fact that he left very few completed paintings, the mysterious circumstances surrounding the painting, and the fact that it was stolen and lost for a number of years. It is housed in the Louvre, which is the most visited art museum in the world. When you combine all of these things, it makes the Mona Lisa probably the most visited/overcrowded painting in the world. Seeing it without the heaviest crowds is a matter of experience, opportunity, and very good timing.
