My favorite thing to do when landing in a new city/country, especially after a long overnight flight across the ocean, is to schedule an evening food tour. It's a GREAT way to get acclimated to a city geographically and culturally, it gives me something planned to make sure I leave my hotel instead of just crashing, and it means not having to look for dinner on my first night in a new place when I don't know the area. My food tour in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona with guide Feliciano of Devour Tours was PERFECT! He provided such a wonderful blend of giving us a tour of history and architecture along with taking us to cozy local spots we'd have never known to try on our own. His itinerary was perfect, with a progression of courses and paired drinks, alongside an INCREDIBLY knowledgeable guided walk of the Gothic Quarter.

But most importantly for a tour like this, Feliciano was a fantastic host. He very quickly made it feel like I was on a dinner tavern crawl with a group of friends, not strangers I'd met only minutes before. We all shared lots of great conversations about where we were from, our travels, and more. Feliciano was definitely the catalyst for all of this with his warm introductions and skillful corralling of the group through the evening's fun.

It was a great night of company, delicious food and drink, and learning about a beautiful city. It was exactly what I hoped it would be!
