Alcatraz is an interesting part of San Francisco history. My wife and I visited it awhile back and a lot of what was accessible back then is not now. We enjoyed the exhibit about the occupation of Alcatraz. The walking tour was great. Since it was a small tour group (just us!), Ellen gave us a great tour and shared interesting facts about San Francisco.
The guide provided enthusiasm, local knowledge and valuable advise on what we should do during our entire stay in San Francisco.
Very knowledgeable and funny guide.
Len was wonderful and the tour was excellent. Although, it was beastly hot at Alcatraz and we roasted! So much for it being cold on The Rock! The only thing I would suggest is a little more time to stop and take pictures in Chinatown but I think Len was concerned about the heat and how some people felt from a lot of walking prior to the tour. I also appreciated a substitute for the trolley car being inoperable. Nicely done!
Tour was informative and guide was knowledgeable. However, the end of the tour we were left in a small park that was infested with homeless people who were engaged ina a heavy argument. Just felt it was unsafe to leave a family or young girls in an area as such. The guide could have escorted those who did not want to stay to a cable car.
