I don't necessarily need this to be published, but I booked this tour because I've had such great experiences with Devour in Lisbon, Barcelona, Seville, and Madrid. I encouraged my friends to take it even though it's quite an expensive tour. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed with the tour. The food and drink we experienced were great, and while our guide obviously loved living in San Sebastian, I'm not sure she had been local long enough to have much in-depth knowledge to share. Our wines were delivered with no explanation of what they were or where they were from, which we found disappointing as learning about local wine was a big motivation for us to go on this tour. These were general issues that just made the tour less compelling than I was expecting after other Devour tours, but I also wanted someone to know about a couple of bigger things. One of our party was a vegetarian, which was on our registration and mentioned multiple times during the tour. She was given a risotto that was supposedly vegetarian, but must have been made with meat stock because she became ill afterward in the way vegetarians often do if they have meat after many years without. It would also be great if you were clearer about what happens with children on your tours. We had two young children, and all the registration said was that there was no charge for them. Our guide announced rather abruptly when we arrived that they wouldn't be getting any food on the tour and we'd have to order everything separately - which often doesn't work well when you're on a tight time schedule, new in a city, and unsure of what is suitable. The guide brought it up multiple times during the tour as if to make sure we weren't giving the kids any of the tour food, and it was kind of rude. This was the most expensive of any of the Devour tours I've taken but by far the least rewarding and most problematic.

Great tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgable about gastronomic history and gave us a broad introduction to Basque/Spanish cuisine. The pintxo bars that we visited were easy to navigate and surprisingly efficient at accommodating our tour group. The food and wine spoke for themselves, delicious on all accounts. We were able to assemble a great list of places and dishes to try again. Finally, great way of socializing and making new friends from the US abroad

I'll definitely come back to Devour if I'm in a city where you do tours! Our guide, Begonia, looked after us so well with helping to get the food and also telling us about the history of areas we were passing by, as well as the food. We had a great group and such a wonderful experience - there wasn't a single dish I disliked and many I will be thinking about until the next time I come back. Thank you!
